Probably best known for the Safari-Kilimanjaro-Zanzibar circuit, there are nevertheless plenty of other good reasons to travel in Tanzania. Traveling down the coast towards Mozambique and inland towards Malawi the crowds thin right out and it can start to get interesting. And as an alternative to Zanzibar, there’s Mafia – unspoiled, with the chance to swim – almost alone – with whale sharks.
